Public records research

As a spring 2022 fellow for WBUR, I submitted, appealed, and followed up on hundreds of public records requests relating to police misconduct records. My research contributed to two award-winning investigations:

How a Mass. law intended to protect victims became a ‘gift to abusers’ by Ally Jarmanning (WBUR)
  • 2024 duPont-Columbia Awards finalist
  • 2023 Regional Edward R. Murrow Awards finalist
  • 2023 Goldsmith Prize semi-finalist
‘Officer shuffle’: Some ousted cops find jobs at new departments in Mass. by Walter Wuthmann (WBUR)
  • 2023 Goldsmith Prize semi-finalist

I also produced a story on challenges the state’s new police oversight commission faced as it prepared to launch a public database of misconduct records:

Mass. will soon post complaints against police officers online. But some will be missing  by Grace Ferguson (WBUR)
